IELTS Test Preparation

Description

This course is designed to improve your English and study skills to meet the IELTS requirements for enrolment in a University undergraduate and postgraduate courses and other courses in Australia and Internationally.

IELTS scores of 6.0 and above are required to undertake tertiary studies at Australian and International universities. IELTS scores of 5.5 and above are required to undertake tertiary studies at Australian institutes for vocational training. Students wishing to take the IELTS test - academic module – might consider to enrol in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course.

Content

For students who have not yet taken the IELTS test, this IELTS Preparation Course is designed to help you improve your chances of a better score. IELTS Preparation course will help you reach the required IELTS score for university, college/TAFE or immigration purposes.

The focus of the course is on developing effective reading, writing, listening and speaking strategies, writing academic essays, reading advanced level texts, improving oral fluency and practicing IELTS tests.

Exam

The course prepares for the IELTS test but does not include that IELTS test. Some institutes arrange the test for their students, especially if they attend the special 10 week course or are an institute which offers vocational training as well.

You can book your IELTS test worldwide whenever you like to do the course. (www.ielts.org) Please note that the test dates are often booked out for 1 – 2 months in advanced. Please apply early.

Length

Depending on your level 2-20 weeks full-time study (usually 20-25 hours/week). Some institutes offer the course only in block modules of 4, 5 or 10 weeks, which will start in this case at specific dates. We recommend 5-10 weeks.

Schedule

Courses starts depend on the institute. They can start every Monday, or at the beginning of a month or at specific dates.

Entry Requirements

IELTS Preparation students need a good school and study record.

Entry requires usually IELTS score of at least 4.0 or 5.0 in all band depending on the institute.

You can enrol in a course even if your English has never been tested. On arrival, you will be undertaking a proficiency test. If your level is not high enough you might need to go first into a ‘General English course’ and work towards gaining entry to IELTS Preparation course.
